Privacy Policy
Bible Buddies is a child-directed Bible learning app used under a parent or guardian’s account. We collect only the information needed to provide safe, age-appropriate learning, streaming audio, progress and optional subscriptions. We do not sell personal information, use behavioural advertising, provide public profiles or offer child-to-child messaging.
Who controls the information
Bible Buddies is operated by Bukunmi Akinfenwa. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to bukunmiakinfenwa@gmail.com. A parent or guardian controls each account and its child profiles.
Information we handle
For the parent account, we handle an email address, display name, consent record and account-security information. For a child profile, we handle a nickname, age band, chosen avatar and interests. We store learning activity such as playback position, favourites, completed audio, memory-verse progress and quiz results. If a parent subscribes, we handle an account identifier, product identifier and subscription entitlement status; Apple handles payment details. We do not request a child’s email address, exact birth date, school, home address or precise location.
How information is used
We use information to operate and secure the account, personalise age-appropriate content, synchronise progress, provide parent reports, validate premium access, prevent misuse and maintain the service. Local Bible Time reminders are stored and scheduled on the device.
Service providers and sharing
Account and learning records are processed using Supabase. Apple processes App Store purchases and RevenueCat validates subscription status and premium access. Audio is stored in Backblaze B2 and delivered using short-lived authorised links. Expo services are used to build and distribute the mobile application. These providers process limited information needed to operate and protect the service. We share information only with service providers acting for Bible Buddies, when required by law, or as part of a business transfer with appropriate safeguards. We do not allow providers to use child information for behavioural advertising.
Children, parental permission and COPPA
Accounts are created and controlled by a parent or guardian, not by a child. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child without appropriate parental permission. A parent can review, correct, export or delete account and child-profile information at any time. If you believe a child has provided information without a parent’s permission, contact us and we will investigate and remove it where required.
UK GDPR and the Age Appropriate Design Code
If UK data-protection law applies, parents and guardians may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, and to request a portable copy of applicable personal data. We design the service with high privacy by default: no precise location, no behavioural advertising, no child-to-child messaging, no public profiles, and only the minimum information needed for the service. Parents can manage and delete profiles, account data and settings through the Parent Area.
Retention and security
We retain account, progress and subscription-status information while the account is active and only as reasonably needed afterward for security, legal or operational purposes. We use access controls, database row-level security and protected media links. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Account and data deletion
Parents can delete a child profile or the entire account inside the app. Deleting the account removes the parent account, child profiles and saved learning activity. If you no longer have the app, use our public account deletion page to request deletion. Deleting an account does not cancel an Apple subscription; subscriptions must be managed in Apple Account settings.
Changes
We may update this policy when the product or law changes. Material changes will be communicated to the parent and renewed consent will be requested where required.
